Caterer, Florist — We Have Both! :-)

So, I haven’t updated you all on the caterer yet, but I’m about to do that right now!  Drum roll, please…..  ;-)

When Greyson and I first came into contact with Jennifer’s Catering’s food, we were amazed.  We were at his sister Jillian’s wedding, and there was so much incredible food, it was hard not to go back for seconds…and thirds…and… well, you get the idea.  The point is, the food was so good.  It wasn’t like the normal chicken or fish option you get at a traditional sit-down dinner (which, don’t get me wrong, can be great!).  Instead, there was a wide variety of choices, and that was something I really appreciated.

As the time came for us to find a caterer, I was, of course, set on Jennifer’s.  There was no way I wasn’t going to have them cater our wedding.  After a ton of time was spent negotiating price and details (all made super-easy by Andrew, the wonderful guy who handles all the nitty-gritty details and fine-tuning), we finally went in for a tasting a few weeks ago.  Our idea was upscale comfort food — basically, if you’re gonna have the grilled cheese sandwich and the tomato soup, why not make it bite-sized?  While the grilled-cheese-tomato-soup option won’t be present at our awesome shin-dig, there will be some amazing alternatives that are both palette- and aesthetically-pleasing.

In designing our custom menu, I made sure to tell Andrew that it was important to us to have some vegan options available, and boy, did they run with that!  Not only are there some great choices for the non-meat-and-dairy-eaters, these foods both look beautiful and taste incredible.  What we really didn’t want was amazing meat-eater foods and subpar vegan food… No one wants that.  We wanted everyone to be able to enjoy everything, and I truly think we have accomplished that.  Take it from a formerly-picky-eater — it’s all fantastic.

As for the florist, we are currently working with Wendell Design Group Florist and loving every minute.  Rene is a wonderful man with so much insight and knowledge about what he does, and I am so shocked and awed by the price he came back to us with for the entire package of flowers — ceremony, reception, bouquets.  It is unreal, and I am so happy.  He stuck to our budget, and was incredible to work with.  I went with one of my bridesmaids, Stephanie, to the appointment, and told him the truth: “This is the one part of my wedding that I just can’t picture in my head.”  I had a few inspiration pictures that I had sent him in an e-mail a few weeks prior, and with both he and Stephanie there to support me, it became easy for me to see this important aspect of the Big Day as they both painted the picture for me, easing me into the whole concept and coaxing ideas out of me, one at a time.  It was an amazing experience, and I am so happy with both my vendors and the girls I have supporting me.

Bridesmaids’ dresses, also, have finally been figured out.  After a lot of consideration, I decided to have all of the girls choose their own dress, based on a semi-specific color palette and telling the girls to find something vintage-inspired.  Stephanie introduced me to a site called Modcloth, and once two of the girls found their dresses on that site, I decided to have all of the girls find their dresses from that site, too.  So far what they have come up with is amazing — I can’t wait to see the finished product.  I was inspired by this picture, and I am loving what I am seeing from the girls…

Pretty, huh?  I am in love.

That’s all I have for this week.  There are some other things in the works that I will update you all on next weekend.  Have a wonderful week, and I will see you back here next Sunday!

Love, M
