*Wedding Update*
Hi, my loves. :-)
I hope you all have had a wonderful Sunday. I visited my husband-to-be yesterday in Flagstaff where he has been training with the military for the past two weeks. He is coming home on Tuesday and I absolutely cannot wait to have him back in my arms again. I feel like half of me has been missing these past days, and I long to feel whole again with him by my side.
It has been a while since I posted about our wedding (I need to do that more!) so I thought I would update you all on what has been going on recently. We have gotten a lot done these past couple of weeks — it is feeling really nice to cross things off of our checklist. Here is what we have been up to…
Catering
We are in the midst of negotiating pricing with Jennifer’s Catering, and I am so hoping that it works out in our favor — otherwise we may have to look for a new caterer. :-( I hate backtracking, so keep your fingers crossed for us. The menu looks great — we’re going for gourmet comfort food. There are vegan items on the proposed menu that would be delightful for anyone, vegan or not. It was important to us to include options for everyone, and we do have quite a few friends who are either vegan or vegetarian so this will make them happy! :-) I asked Jennifer’s to add another meat option to the list of foods; we’ll see what they come up with. I am supposed to hear back tomorrow about what they can do for us. We are hoping that it is good news!
Wedding Entertainment
Lucky for us, we have musically-talented brothers on both sides of the family. :-)
My brother Dylan lives in Seattle with his roommates who have formed a band called Moya. Check them out here.

Dylan is the one who brought Greyson and I together in the first place, and he will be playing both at the beginning of the reception and as I walk down the aisle. We are so happy to have him be a part of our special, special day. (And we thank him from the bottom of our hearts for helping us find each other!)
Grant is Greyson’s brother and is a member of the band Billion Dollar Bailout. You can check them out here.

Billion Dollar Bailout will be performing at our wedding for a bit of time at the reception. We are so, so happy that they have agreed to do this. I love Grant so much — he is a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor that we all adore. We can’t wait for BDB to help us celebrate our big day. :-)
As far as other wedding entertainment goes, we are still a bit undecided. I’m personally not too keen on having a DJ, but we do want dancing at the wedding and are for sure going to have a dance floor. We are kind of in between thoughts right now — iPod with our own personal mix of songs, or a band? Right now, we are definitely leaning more towards the iPod option. My dad is the best and said that he would check on it throughout the night and make sure it is doing its job. Grey and I would just make a playlist with music that works, and for special dances (like my dance with my dad, and my grandpa, and our first dance, of course) our wedding planner would handle. We’ll see what we decide!
Wedding Night Accommodations
My parents are gifting us with a stay at the Carefree Inn on the night of our wedding. Our bridal party will also be getting ready in two suites at this beautiful resort, and we will be taking pictures before the wedding here, as well.
Bridesmaids Attire
I posted a while back about my inspiration for bridesmaids attire. I am going a little bit of an untraditional route for this part of the wedding — the girls and I will be choosing separates to pair together instead of just selecting a regular dress. I was privileged enough to have this happen at my future sister-in-law’s wedding where all of us girls bought a black pencil skirt from Banana Republic and a pretty maroon tank top from Ann Taylor — both of which can be worn again in many different ways.
That being said, (and in case you missed it!), here is my inspiration for my ladies’ attire…

My ‘maids and I are going shopping in the coming week (when my MOH Taylor gets in town!) and we are going to try on a bunch of things and see what we can find. I am so excited about this!
Florist
We are almost certain that we will be using Rene of Wendell Florist for our flowers! I am in the midst of corresponding with Rene (who is beyond sweet!) about what we are looking for in terms of all things floral! We like the idea of branches, and quaint flowers for the event — nothing too gaudy or insane. Here are a couple of ideas to give you a little insight…

And as for my bouquet, I am loving this…

We’ll keep you all posted about the flowers once we find out more.
Our Officiant
Pastor Vernon is one of the most amazing, kind men my family has every met. We are so happy that he is going to marry us! Greyson and I are supposed to schedule a meeting with him once G gets back from training so that we can start our wedding preparation and talk about the service.
Honeymoon
When Greyson and I started talking about honeymoons, we discussed a few different options. New York City? Europe? (Dreaming big there, haha!) After a lot of talk about it, we came up with Sedona, Arizona. Last year around this time, Greyson booked a romantic vacation for the two of us for my birthday. We stayed at the Amara Creekside Resort (which we LOVED and highly recommend) and had the best time relaxing, shopping, and just being together. We thought, why not go there again?
We are excited to experience this small town right in the midst of beautiful Arizona fall and find some trails to hike, some restaurants to enjoy, and go to our favorite store in Sedona, Feliz Navidad. We will be staying for five nights and six days, and we will be leaving for our trip the morning following our wedding.
Registering
Greyson and I are going to be registering this Wednesday at Target, Macy’s, and Crate and Barrel. We will post all of our registry lists on this blog and also at our wedding website as soon we we are finished!
I’ll leave you all with two songs that will be making an appearance at our wedding. (Click links to hear!) Can you guess what they are going to be for? ;-)
Love, Mareah
