$1 Miniature Vases? Yes, Please!

Hello, my dearies!  How are you all doing?

How was your Wednesday?  Mine was very busy and on the stressful side.  The minute I left work I decided to stop at Goodwill on my way home to see if anything popped out at me.  And, you know what?  Something did.  Three things, to be more specific.

Aren’t these adorable?  $0.99 each.  And they are perfect!  No cracks, scratches, or anything un-lovely about them.  Just fabulous.  I knew right away what I could do with these — make them into a centerpiece of sorts for our coffee table.  Which is when I decided that it would be a Fall centerpiece, since I don’t have anything Fall-ish in the living room yet.  So, off to Hobby Lobby I went!  ;-)

I found three different types of Fall-colored flowers that I thought worked well together.  (I wanted the arrangements to be funky but still seasonal).  I also picked up some vase filler, and a plastic box to keep all of my crafty stuff in one place.  Love!

When I got home, I spread all of my goodies out onto the coffee table…

I filled up the tiny vases with the filler first, almost up to the top since I knew that I was going to be stuffing them full.

And then I just began to cut the branched-off flower parts off of their long stems and arrange.  I found it easier to cut the plastic part of the stems and then bend the naked wire back and forth until it just broke off rather than cutting it with scissors.  The ends didn’t matter much to me, anyway, since they were going to be hidden.  It wasn’t the prettiest process in the world, but the arrangements ended up looking like this…

And all together, in the middle of our coffee table, it looks like this…

I love it!  The whole project took about a half hour, and it cost $21.  Considering that a pre-made floral arrangement of the same size at Marshall’s, Ross, or T.J. Maxx would run me about ten dollars, I think this little craft was well worth it.  Also, if you are like my mother-in-law and have a ton of vase filler just lying around (I love that about you, mom!) then your only expenditure besides the bud vases would be the flowers.  And, let me tell you, Hobby Lobby (my new favorite store) has 50% off sales all the time on their floral department (and other departments, too — it’s crazy!).  I’m just sayin’…  ;-)

I am hoping that this Friday night I can have a Craft Evening of sorts.  I’m going to choose a craft that I want to do and then I’ll buy the supplies after work that day…  Greyson is going to be out that night so I think it’ll be fun for me to just hunker down and be creative.  :-)  Most likely I’ll do something seasonal, just to get me even more in the spirit of Fall — not that I’m not already there, but I just want to immerse myself in this time of year.  I wait for it and wait for it, and it is coming!  Woohoo!

What are some of your favorite seasonal crafts?

Have you ever been to Hobby Lobby?

Love, M
